An introduction to AJAX equipment, a UK based company with 50 years plus of experience designing and manufacturing solids handling and processing equipment.

Ajax Equipment – Over 50 Years of Service

Founded by Lyn Bates and Bill Waters in 1970, Ajax was started with a single purpose - to offer first class solids handling and processing equipment. Ever since then, Ajax’s custom-built equipment has helped thousands of companies from a wide range of industries to achieve high quality solids handling and processing.

Ajax Equipment’s work is distinguished by specifying designs that best meet the client’s requirements, and is bespoke, rather than standard 'off the shelf' forms of equipment. This approach has made Ajax’s reliable solids handling equipment the choice of companies around the world. You can find Ajax’s equipment in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Ghana, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, USA and Zambia, to name a few! Our testimonials page gives just a flavour of recent projects showing not just the equipment solution we’ve provided but also how capable we are to be a trusted partner and the value we bring to the task in hand.

Our bespoke product range includes screw feeders, conveyors and elevators and process machinery like lump breakers and mixers. All equipment we supply is produced under our ISO 9001 – 2015 certified management system and in line with all relevant equipment directives for machinery, including ATEX and PED, where required.

Production Facilities

Ajax factory extends over 2000 square metres and incorporates a technical support office, test centre for measuring flow properties as well as performing practical feeding and processing trials, a design office and extensive fabrication facilities for work in mainly in mild and stainless steel, and even high nickel alloys. Ajax uses its thorough understanding of flow behaviour of powders and other bulk solids, allied with an innovative approach to design, utilising both 2D and 3D technology, to produce equipment which is individually tailored for each specific application. Our fabrication team provides the key craft skills and capacity for manufacturing the equipment we supply and our coded welders provide reassurance on quality build of every machine, with food grade and pharma suitable machinery routinely made here in Bolton.

Ajax’s Team

Ajax is led by managing director Eddie McGee, director Mark Waters and Chairman and Founder Lyn Bates, who have over 130 years combined service at Ajax Equipment.

Eddie comments, “Ajax’s foundations are sound and we continue to evolve rising to the challenges of new processes and materials to be handled. We are actively bringing through the next generation of solids handling innovators in our technical, design and production teams, as we continue to strive to ensure reliable flow, consistent feeding and effective processing like mixing of bulk solids whether they are fine powders or shredded biomass, dry or damp, at extreme temperatures, or elevated pressure, demanding high levels of containment or used in the most hazardous areas.” “Ajax is now well in to its sixth decade as and our core aim remains the same; to provide the very best solids handling or processing solution to every customer by producing equipment dedicated to the task. We work hard to further our understanding of industry needs as they too evolve, responding with ever more reliable, efficient and safe equipment,” says Eddie ”Our key vision is to make life easier, more productive and safer for all who own and operate solids handling and processing plant”.

Mark noted “We look forward to contributing even more technical advances in the next 50 years, as we embrace new manufacturing techniques and quality standards and continue to lead on innovation.”

Location

Ajax Equipment is located about a mile from the centre of Bolton, 12 miles northwest of Manchester.
